What We Do

At Midwest Institute for Hearts and Minds, we serve our patients' mental health and chronic pain needs by listening to, screening, and treating them on a whole-person basis.

Treating Mind, Body, and Spirit

Midwest Institute for Hearts and Minds offers IV ketamine infusion treatments in St. Louis, which research has shown can improve mood, rapidly trigger dopamine receptors, and rewire synapses in the brain with little risk of addiction. Our patients have experienced relief from debilitating mental health and chronic pain conditions.

Established in 2017 by board-certified physicians Dr. Charles Tadros, MD, and Dr. Vafa Foroughi, MD, Midwest Institute for Hearts and Minds is the longest-running ketamine clinic in the region. Our physicians have performed over 8,000 infusions and treated hundreds of patients.

Every infusion is physician-administered, and each patient is treated as an individual, with customized treatment and dosing protocols. Because of our commitment to the highest safety protocols and standards of care, our clinic has earned the trust of local physicians and universities, who regularly refer their patients to our clinic for treatment.

Our physicians have a combined 60 years of experience and expertise in internal medicine and anesthesiology, which allows us to offer a unique perspective on your mental health or chronic pain treatment options.

Screening Process

Our treatment process begins with a comprehensive, no-obligation consultation with one of our physicians, where we seek to truly understand you and what brings you to us for ketamine treatment. This appointment is an opportunity to discuss your general medical and psychiatric history as well as your history and experiences with your current condition. We are interested in any treatments that you may have received. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about our processes, how ketamine may help you, ask questions, and generally get to know each other.

Determining if you are a suitable candidate for ketamine infusions includes screening for symptoms of:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Bipolar disease
  • Chronic daily headaches, including analgesic rebound and chronic migraines
  • Chronic neuropathic pain
  • Cognitive dysfunction, including difficulty thinking and issues with memory or reaction time
  • Substance Use Disorder

Further Education

Before we approve you for ketamine treatment, we also want to educate you about other treatment options and how your condition affects your entire body. During your consultation, we will discuss additional factors and treatment options that may be relevant for your condition beyond ketamine.

We Listen to You

Getting to know and understand all our patients is at the heart of what we do. We ensure that you are comfortable and secure throughout the entire ketamine infusion process. We take time to talk to all our patients, understand their worries and concerns, and make sure that your ketamine infusion experience is as beneficial as it can be.
